IPhone soon became a Krika payment terminal? Rumors that will be implemented as early as the next issue of iOS 15.4

Written By mobilephonebrand

There are rumors that Apple is developing new features for small and medium-sized enterprises that can use iPhone alone to make contactless credit card payments. Like Apple Pay, NFC technology is likely to be used. Bloomberg explained that Apple has been working on the feature since around 2020 and bought Canadian start-up Mobeewave, which has the technology to accept payments through smartphones and credit cards, for about $100m (11.4 billion yen).

The buy-out show was announced in the summer of 2020, when there was speculation that iPhone would be used as a payment terminal. As of January 2022, small and medium-sized enterprises using iPhone to accept credit card payments need to purchase and install third-party dedicated IC card readers. One of the largest companies is Block's (renamed at the end of 2021) payment service Square, which is headed by Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey, which sells dedicated IC card readers for iPhone and iPad.

However, if Apple integrates the functions of contactless payment terminals directly into the NFC chip built into the iPhone, then this external hardware will not be needed.

This feature also applies to Apple Pay, allowing users (non-corporate individuals) such as kitchen cars and hairdressers to click on their iPhone to the back of a credit card or another iPhone to pay. Bloomberg said it was not clear whether the payment method would be branded as part of Apple Pay. In addition, I don't know whether I intend to cooperate with the existing settlement network or start it separately.

In addition, this feature may be deployed "in the next few months" and as early as the next software update for iOS 15.4. Since iOS 15.3 is just opening to the public today, testing of iOS 15.4 is expected to begin soon.

Non-contact cashless payment services led by Square also have more and more opportunities in events such as the comic book market and peer magazine fairs. But if "just update iOS,iPhone will quickly turn into a payment terminal", this will pose a huge threat to competitors. Source:Bloomberg
